Sometimes, very occasionally, something magical happens. From your brushes, from the sweep of your palette knife, emerges something so nice, you wonder if you’ll ever be able to top it (actually I already know this, since I painted again since, and produced utter tripe).
You can’t win ’em all, but you can bask in what it felt like when all the planets aligned and somehow you made good art.
And it’s not that these paintings are perfect. But when I painted these it was like I was merely holding the brushes. A human conduit. Perhaps I got out of my own way for a change!
These are stunning vicki, I adore your colour choice. They will look beautiful hung together. I totally agree with those moments of pure flow, and then those of, ‘I’ve lost the plot.’….I’m in the’ I’ve lost the plot moments’, as we speak, planets align quickly please 😀

Thank you so much Rebecca, that’s so kind! I painted a couple of larger ones on the same support (wooden panel) using the same approach and….well let’s just say they’re getting painted over! Can’t win them all!

Ah that’s very kind of you Margaret! And as is often the way, the two I painted after after this were dogs dinners!

Those are beautiful. I love it when paintings paint themselves. If I have an easy time with a painting, the next one is a disaster that I have to really struggle through.

Hello! Aw, thank you for your kind comment. It seems to be a law of the universe that what comes easy one day must be fought for the next!
