The road to Broadway

imageNo, not that Broadway.

Broadway is a beautiful village on the other side of the Blackdown Hills from where I live.  I especially love the drive there – very rural and unspoiled with fabulous views.

The trouble is, I spend a lot of time trying to look at the view and getting car sick instead!  I like to drive as slowly as possible so I can take it all in, to try and imprint the essence of what I see. Often I’ll pull over to take photographs.

The flaw in this method of information gathering is of course being a total nuisance to other road users. Actually, what would really work for me is a tractor….I’d be able to see over the hedgerows as well as drive slow.

    So lovely Vicki. I just love driving in the countryside for inspiration. It is hard to keep out of the way of other traffic though, wish I had driver.

    boy, I LOVE that SKY!!
    so compelling, so lovely – fabulous. I laughed as I read the part about the tractor 🙂 I used to drive a mini-Kubota for the farm in the States, it was handy.

      First – I am so envious you’ve lived in two countries I long to visit. Second – thank you so much about the sky! Took me a long time to understand clouds. And I like ’em fancy.

    beautiful painting! I especially love the sensitivity in the sky and those luscious colors! I do exactly what you mentioned, looking and craning my neck and try to drive at the same time. I truly appreciate it when my husband drives and I can do all the looking to my heart’s content!

      Aw, thank you again! Yes, I like it when the hubs drives – though I then make myself car sick with all the eyeballing!
